PHOTOGRAPHY HOLIDAYS ON PAXOS
'AUTUMN PHOTOGRAPHY WEEK':
1 - 8 OCTOBER 2012
Our 'Autumn Photography Week' will be led by
professional photographer
Chris Gilbert,
who has been exhibiting and selling his images,
and teaching landscape photography for a number
of years. It
is suitable for photographers of any standard.

Tuition will consist of daily briefings backed
up by plenty of
opportunities for field practice designed to
advance your understanding of
your camera and develop your picture-taking
skills. These will be supplemented by informal
early evening discussions of the day’s work,
when you will learn what can be achieved using
picture editing software. Throughout the week
there will also be plenty of opportunities for
individual advice and time either to explore
Paxos or simply relax. The atmosphere will be
light-hearted and informal. This is, after all,
a holiday.
The precise content of the course will to a certain extent
be guided by the
needs of those taking part but we would expect
the course to cover
-
How your camera works: the relationship
between ISO, shutter speed, and the
aperture. Using appropriate metering to gain
the correct exposure.
-
The importance of composition, along with
some classic approaches.
-
The importance of an artefact-based approach
to digital imaging. How to get your pictures
from your camera to your computer, from
pixels to printing, and from pictures to
presentation. This includes how to use
digital imaging software to get the most
from your pictures.
-
How to use software to produce a simple and
affective slide show with music of the
images you have taken throughout the course.

Cost: The 'Autumn Photography Week' costs £595 per person,
which includes tuition,
accommodation in a shared twin room in a villa
with private pool near Loggos, one of the three main
villages on Paxos, return transfers between Corfu
Airport and your accommodation on Paxos, local transport required in
connection with the photography sessions, a large breakfast
hamper, and
welcome and farewell drinks.
The supplement for sole use of a twin/double
room is £125 and any optional
activities such as Greek cookery, Greek dancing, boat
trips and walks will also be at additional cost.
For full details of what is included in the cost and
of the accommodation, please see
'Photography
Holidays Further Information'.
Alternative accommodation and extending your
holiday:
If you already have your own
accommodation, then it is usually possible just to join
the group tuition sessions. We can also help you
to find accommodation if you would like to stay
somewhere other than our shared villas or would
like to extend your holiday and spend a few
additional days on Paxos or a few days on Corfu,
either before or after the photography course. Please
contact us
to discuss the options.
To Book:
Please read our
Booking Conditions and the
Important Information section of
this website and then complete and submit an
On-Line Booking Form. Our
photography
holidays are open to people of all ages and
abilities aged 18 or over. However,
Paxos is a relatively hilly island and we
therefore do not feel that they are suitable for
anyone with walking difficulties.
Second
Holiday/Course Discount:
We will give
you a discount of £40 if you book any two
holidays or courses in our current programme.
Group discounts: If you are a
group of four or more who wish to book
the 'Spring Photography Week', please
contact us to see if we can offer
you a discount.
Further
Information:
Do have a look round our website and, if you would like further information about any of our
holidays and courses or about Paxos more
generally, then please do not hesitate to
Contact Us.
