PAINTING HOLIDAYS ON PAXOS

'SPRING PAINTING WEEK': 2 - 9 MAY 2016

"The Spring Painting Week spent in Paxos is the best painting course I have ever been on, and I have been on many, including California, France, Italy and the UK.  It was very well organised and the tuition was of a very high standard.  The accommodation was good and the food and wine were excellent."
- DM, Larnaca, Cyprus

"A delightful holiday in a wonderful setting with excellent company and expert art tuition. As beginners, we were inspired by the more able members of the small group and the stunning scenery surrounding us." - PH & VH, Stockport

"We were most impressed with all aspects of our week there, and will return for another adventure as soon as we are back in Europe. Jenny Halstead is an exceptional Art tutor and I left wanting to try all her tips, as soon as I got home." - NM, Melbourne, Australia.

"I would thoroughly recommend this holiday to any aspiring artist at any level. Breathtaking views on an unspoilt island, expert tuition and good food and wine. Plus the new friendships to be made. Same place, same time, next year!" - LPHW, St Austell

The 'Spring Painting Week' will be led by Jenny Halstead PS, who currently teaches drawing and painting in France, Greece and the Berkshire area, and is tutor to the Medical Artists' Education Trust at the Royal College of Surgeons. Jenny is also working on the progression of her own work and frequently holds solo and group exhibitions in the South East of England. She is an elected a member of the prestigious Pastel Society (UK) and has also recently been appointed as Artist in Residence to the archaeological excavations of the Roman town of Silchester. To find out more about Jenny and her work, and to see a selection of her paintings, visit her website at www.jennyhalstead.co.uk

Who the holiday is for: The 'Spring Painting Week' aims to provide you with a wonderful painting holiday where you can enjoy sketching and painting alongside other painters in an inspirational setting. It is suitable for artists of all levels of experience working in most media. The holiday is based around the delightful village of Loggos, the smallest of the three coastal villages on the beautiful Greek island of Paxos, but you will also spend time visiting other parts of the island. Non-painting partners are also very welcome.

Where you will stay: Accommodation will be in Villas Poseidon and Amphitrite, two lovely new villas situated in the olive groves just behind Marmari and Levrechio Beaches, and just a few minutes' walk from Loggos harbour. We will advise you at the time of booking, if it becomes necessary to arrange additional accommodation, which we will endeavour to ensure is of a similar standard and in the same vicinity.

Tuition will be based around morning group sessions and early evening get-togethers, with plenty of opportunities for individual advice. Jenny will also be on hand during the afternoons to help those who wish to continue painting. The working week runs from Tuesday to Sunday, with a free day on Friday to give you the chance to explore the rest of the island or simply relax.

Topics covered during the week will include

       sketchbook work
       drawing

  line and wash
       pen and watercolour
       figure drawing
       composition
       basic perspective
       tone and colour

Holiday cost: The holiday costs 995 per person, which includes tuition, accommodation in a shared twin room in Villa Poseidon or Villa Amphitrite, return transfers between Corfu and Loggos, breakfast, 5 lunches and 5 dinners (with wine) in local tavernas, welcome and farewell drinks, and local transport required in connection with the painting sessions. There is a supplement of 125 per person for sole use of a twin/double room.

For full details of what is included in the cost of the holiday and of the accommodation, please see 'Spring Painting Week Further Information'.

Alternative accommodation and extending your holiday: If you already have your own accommodation, then it is possible just to join the group tuition sessions. We can also help you to find accommodation if you would like to stay somewhere other than Villas Poseidon or Amphitrite, or would like to extend your holiday and spend a few additional days on Paxos or a few days on Corfu. Please contact us to discuss the options.

To Book: Please read our Booking Conditions and the Important Information section of this website and then complete and submit an On-Line Booking Form. Our painting holidays are open to people of all ages and abilities aged 18 or over. However, Paxos is a relatively hilly island and we therefore do not feel that they are suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

Second Holiday/Course Discount: We will give you a discount of 40 if you book any two holidays or courses from our current programme.

Further Information: Do have a look round our website and, if you would like further information about any of our holidays and courses or about Paxos more generally, then please do not hesitate to Contact Us.
