ESCAPE TO THE GREEK ISLAND OF PAXOS FOR A LATE SUMMER WEEK OF KUNDALINI YOGA

There are many yoga holidays on offer but special interest holiday operator, Paxos Life Activities, is one of the few operators to offer Kundalini yoga.

The Greek island of Paxos is a peaceful and inspiring location with unspoilt villages, stunning scenery and the unrushed pace of life in Greece as it always used to be. With its serene olive groves, white-washed churches and deserted beaches it offers the perfect opportunity to tap into the peace and beauty of an inspirational landscape and there is no better place to take some time out of the rat-race and simply relax. This also makes it the ultimate destination for a yoga holiday.

And late Summer is the ideal time to visit Paxos: most tourists have left, the weather is usually still pleasantly warm but without the searing heat of mid-Summer, the sea is still lovely for swimming and the olive groves are once again carpeted with wild flowers.

Paxos Life Activities’ Late Summer Yoga Week therefore provides the ideal opportunity to experience Kundalini yoga, a form of yoga which is less well-known than Hatha or Iyengar yoga but is actually more holistic, more transformational and works more rapidly than any other form of yoga.

Kundalini yoga is suitable for people of any age or physical ability whether or not they have any previous experience of yoga. It consists of several elements, all of which are brought into every session and can be described as “a technology for spiritual growth or self-help for the soul which gives those that practice it strength to change and to expand their capacity for life”. It inspires calmness, peace of mind, relaxation and inner strength and helps to create healthy, strong and balanced individuals who are better equipped to cope with every day, situation and relationship in life.

The holiday will be based around early morning group yoga sessions supplemented by walking meditations in the lovely Paxos countryside and early evening yoga/meditation. Afternoons will be free to explore Paxos or take advantage of the wonderful peace and quiet and simply relax.

Paxos Life Activities is working with specialist tour operator Travel à la carte to offer the holiday and accommodation will be in two lovely villas (each with private pool) set in the olive groves above the little coastal village of Loggos and featured in Travel à la carte’s 2010 programme.

Full details of the Late Summer Yoga Week, which runs from 27 September to 4 October, can be found on the Paxos Life Activities website at www.paxoslife.co.uk, or contact Chris Griffiths (email [email protected] or tel 0030 26620 31207) or Margaret Longes (email [email protected] or tel 01444 258048).

Creative Writing, Painting and Photography holidays, and skippered and bareboat Yacht Charter are also available.
